LOCKYER VALLEY'S FORD & MITSUBISHI DEALERSHIP
HISTORY
Max Carpenter, from Flagstone Creek, began his apprenticeship as a mechanic with Reg Naumann at Crescent Street, Gatton in 1982. Two years later, Max, as a second-year apprentice, bought the business known as Naumann’s Total Garage. As well as selling Total fuel the garage was also an agent for Nissan parts and service. Max finished his apprenticeship in 1986 and the business had a name change to Carpenter Motors.
Then in 1988 the first big break came. Against strong opposition Max won the rights to the Ford dealership and Carpenter Ford was born. In the business’s first 12 months Carpenter Ford doubled Ford’s market share in Gatton. As sales grew and the business boomed, the premises, on the same site as the original business bought in 1984, became far too small. So in 1996 the premises were completely refurbished. The current building was opened by Glen Seaton on October 18, 1996.
The second big break came in 1998 when the company took over the Mitsubishi dealership. As a result the name Carpenter Mitsubishi came to be known. Carpenter Ford and Carpenter Mitsubishi have operated as a multi-franchise dealership ever since.
TODAY'S DEALERSHIP
On 1 July 2010, Max welcomed new partners into the business. As a result another name change occurred, with the dealership becoming known as Carpenter Automotive.
Carpenter Automotive has experienced very strong retail sales in recent years. In 2010, Carpenter Automotive recorded it's highest ever Mitsubishi New Vehicle Sales for a year. This achievement was recognised through the dealership receiving the prestigious Mitsubishi Sales Award Award for 2010. Ford New Vehicles Sales have also followed a similar trend. Carpenter Automotive achieved an outstanding result for Ford sales in 2012. As a result, Carpenter Automotive received the Ford Club Award in recognition of Outstanding New Vehicle Sales.
As well as strong vehicle sales over recent years. Carpenter Automotive also prides itself on outstanding customer service in both our Parts and Service Departments. Carpenter Automotive continues to ensure all of technicians are trained to the highest of standards to provide the best possible care for your vehicle.
Carpenter Automotive will endeavor to continue to build on it's strong relationship with the people of the Lockyer Valley and Surrounds.
